Counseling Center Update - Seniors

Dear Seniors, Senior Parents & Guardians,

MCC Foundation Scholarships

I wanted to send out the link for some of the MCC Winter Scholarships. Some of the scholarships are specific to; type of student, program of interest or having to have MCC credits already.  Most are separated out into Auto/Diesel, Trades, Military, General Education, and Specific Type of Student. Here is the link to the MCC Winter Quarter Scholarships to share with students who may be thinking about starting in the winter.

University of Nebraska Kearney

Greetings from UNK!   We have a few important reminders for you and your students regarding our upcoming November 15th scholarship deadlines:

  • Omaha World-Herald/Kearney Hub Scholarship-- is our most prestigious scholarship paying full-tuition, books, room, board, and university fees for four-years.  Students must apply to the UNK Honors Program online at http://www.unk.edu/honors/ by November 15th to be considered, and should have a 30 ACT and at least a 3.85 GPA.
  • Kearney Law Opportunities Program (KLOP) -- is a partnership between UNK and the University of Nebraska College of Law, designed to recruit students from rural areas and train them to become lawyers that will return and practice law in their communities.  More information, including how to apply, can be found at http://www.unk.edu/klop/

UNK celebrates 'First Look' at Village Flats with campus, community gathering

UNK hosted a "First Look" event Oct. 18 for the new Village Flats project in the University Village development.  Construction of the $16 million residence hall started in April, and the 130-bed apartment-style complex is planned for completion in summer 2018.  Chancellor Doug Kristensen recognized campus and community leaders involved with the project, as well as University Village board members, builders and architects. Student Regent Austin Partridge also spoke. "Today is a long time coming and highly anticipated by me and others like me who have carried this vision in our heads for the past decade or so," Kristensen said.

In-state tuition (UNK) offered to Colorado, Kansas students beginning fall 2018

UNK just made it more attractive for students from Colorado and Kansas to become Lopers.  Beginning in fall 2018, UNK will offer in-state tuition rates for residents from those two states who enroll as regular on-campus undergraduate students and meet assured admissions requirements.

The new Advantage Scholarship effectively decreases the UNK hourly tuition rate for Kansas and Colorado students to $198 per credit hour (the proposed 2018 Nebraska tuition rate). Kansas students currently pay $288, which is 150 percent of resident tuition as members of the Midwest Student Exchange agreement between Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio and Wisconsin.  Colorado is not part of the exchange, and students from there currently pay $418 per credit hour (2017) to attend UNK.    FULL STORY ...
