DC West Schools is a wonderful school, I began working here in 1991 and I love my job, the students and families.  This is my 29th year serving our communities.   My philosophy in education is to always be a student of my students.  During the 29 years I have served Valley/DC West in a variety of capacities.  First as a Title One teacher, then a fourth grade teacher.  As a fourth grade teacher, in the year 1997, 4th grade students led the statewide process of changing how legislature selects state symbols. We changed history.  We were successful in lobbying the legislature for the channel catfish to become an official Nebraska state symbol, under Governor Ben Nelson.  My current roles include  K-5  HAL Reading teacher, combined with being K-12 District Assessment Director.  I also serve as Director for Elementary Disney Musicals.  In 2017-2018 Disney Musicals became a part of the elementary extra curricular opportunities.  That year, over 80 students participated and we performed The Jungle Book Kids for our communities and on the Holland Stage, it was an amazing journey and partnership with our students, parents and community members.   This year, students are performing Cinderella Kids.   I enjoy being a Disney Leadership Team member in the theatrical arts at DC West.

I love learning and have maintained academic growth throughout my career.  I am a Fremont High graduate with my Bachelors in Education from Wayne State College; a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane; an Assessment Leadership Endorsement and Curriculum Specialist with Administrative Supervision Degrees, from the University of Lincoln.

Ladies in history who have inspired me include:  Annie Sullivan, Sacajawea and the Biblical character, Ruth.

My husband, James A. Perry,  is employed at Valmont Industries.  We have two children and seven grandchildren we are proud of and enjoy.
