It is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to an exciting and rewarding year in third grade. This year you and I will become partners in one of the most important jobs we have; helping your child develop academically, socially, and emotionally. It's an exciting and challenging task, plus a terrifically rewarding one. My three main goals for my students are:
1. To provide opportunities for students to achieve success academically, socially, and emotionally.
2. To create a positive classroom environment for students to become independent learners and thinkers.
In our classroom, there will be a combination of the whole group, small group, partner work, and independent work. Students will always be informed on which assignments will be handed in for a grade. Homework is mainly anything that is not completed during the day. However, it is strongly encouraged that students take time, 20-30 minutes daily, to read, practice spelling words, or reinforce math concepts with IXL or XtraMath fact practice.
This is my 22nd year of teaching, my 7th at DC West. I have taught in grades 1-3 and have a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction.
Your child's success is extremely important to me. I hope we can work together throughout the year to provide your child with the best possible experience. I value your opinion, so please don't hesitate to contact me regarding any questions or concerns that you may have.
When I'm not busy at school, I enjoy spending time with my three daughters, cheering them on at sporting events, reading, and spending time outdoors.
