2023-2024 Program Dates
We are excited to announce the music program dates for the 2023-2024 school year! Our musicians look forward to sharing and celebrating their growth on the following dates:
All performances will be held in the elementary gym and are 30 minutes in length. Please have your student(s) arrive 15 minutes before the listed start time, as the doors to the building will not be open before then. Students should wear clothing that allows them to sit, stand, and move comfortably. Attire can be as formal or informal as your family chooses, including:
- Skirts, rompers, jumpsuits, dresses, khaki or dress shorts or pants, jeans, or suits
- Short or long sleeve tops, dress shirts, or sweaters
- Tennis shoes, flats, or dress shoes
This year, we are inviting our 2nd and 4th grade families to experience what a weekly music class at DC West might look and feel like! To ensure everyone has enough space to participate or spectate, you will notice classes have been assigned to either the 6:30 or 7:15 pm time slot, listed below.
- Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 6:30 pm – 4th grade family folk dancing night (Bottorff, Fisher)
- Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 7:15 pm – 4th grade family folk dancing night (Lutze, Kennec)
- Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 6:30 pm – 2nd grade informance (Price, Listenberger)
- Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 7:15 pm – 2nd grade informance (West)
The family folk dance night will open with students in 4th grade performing a folk dance, followed by several opportunities for family members to join in the fun and learn alongside their student. The 2nd grade “informance” will provide families a glimpse into the layout of a weekly music class. Students in 2nd grade will perform a few songs and then have the chance to teach their family members to sing, speak, move, and play like a true DC West elementary musician. We are looking forward to engaging with your family in these new ways!
