Chip grew up in the small town of Staplehurst, Nebraska and graduated from Centennial High School. After high school he attended Doane College where he participated in baseball and majored in Mathematics with endorsements in Secondary Education and Coaching. In 2012, Chip received his Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane College and in 2018 he received his Education Specialists Degree from Arkansas State University. After college he spent 2 years teaching high school math in Fairbury, Nebraska while also coaching football, basketball, and softball. Chip was hired at DC West Community schools in 2012 as a junior high math teacher, and in 2014 he moved to teach at the high school level serving as head basketball coach and junior high football coach. He and his wife Sarah have 3 kids: Caden, Maddox, and Charlotte. They live in Elkhorn and enjoy numerous outdoors and sporting activities.
