DC West Elementary School Family Musical Identity Project
The Family Musical Identity Project is new for the 2024-2025 school year and was developed as a means of learning more about the musical identities and cultural backgrounds of students and families at DC West Elementary School. Families are invited to fill out a short survey that asks questions about how music is a part of their personal experience and that of their family.
Information provided on the form will assist me in:
-Enhancing student learning by making curricular changes that support the musical identity of your student(s)
-Creating opportunities to connect the music making and listening that happens in your family with what students are engaging with in music class
-Identifying potential community members who could share their knowledge of music
As a visual representation of this project, I am collecting pictures of your family to create a mural outside the music room. Photos can be of anyone you consider family in the setting of your choice--bonus points if it features music.
